Andrew Evans is an author, speaker, and TV host. A renowned travel writer, Andrew has completed over 50 assignments for National Geographic, reporting from all seven continents and over one hundred countries. Whether following an 18th-century sea captain to remotest Polynesia, walking overland from Syria to Saudi Arabia, or broadcasting his 12,000-mile overland journey to Antarctica via public transportation—Andrew travels with the heart of an explorer seeking out all that is wonderful, weird, and beautiful. Andrew contributes to National Geographic, National Geographic Traveler, BBC Travel, Outside, and The Chicago Tribune. He is the author of five books, including two bestselling guidebooks, and his award-winning memoir The Black Penguin.

His TV shows highlight the fascinating people, places and ideas around the world, including his tech-centered series, “World’s Smartest Cities.” Appearing on the National Geographic Channel, his latest series “Hidden Gems” explores the lesser-known corners of well-known destinations. Andrew holds degrees from Brigham Young University and Oxford University. He lives in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains and loves to run, swim, hike, dive, and knit.
