Jimmy White
Dr. Jimmy White is a researcher, explorer and humanitarian. Jimmy obtained his PhD in Conservation Biology at James Cook University. An avid researcher, he was recognized as a future leader of research in Australia for his work quantifying the impact of commercial fishing on sharks and rays. Jimmy has a deep understanding of the threats, management, and conservation of megafauna around the globe informed from a lifetime of field work exploring the last wild places. His work has been featured in documentaries as well in peer reviewed publications and IUCN species assessments. As an explorer, Jimmy has led expeditions for National Geographic, BBC, Discovery channel as well as university and non-government organizations around the world. Most recently, he is working with the Caladan Oceanic Initiative to explore the last frontier environment on our planet, the Hadal zone, the deepest region of the ocean, lying within oceanic trenches.
Jimmy’s humanitarianism has centered around bringing his global knowledge of exploration and logistics to support medical aid and education programs to remote communities in Melanesia. In partnership with Meet the Ocean foundation, Jimmy has recently delivered virtual reality programs to children’s hospitals across the U.S. & Australia designed to reduce pain medication for pediatric oncology and burn patients.
