• The Boeing 757s feature powerful Rolls Royce engines with 87,000 pounds of thrust. This comes in handy in hot climates when high air temperatures can make it difficult for a plane to get the proper lift for takeoff. 
• Thanks to that powerful engine, the 757 can take off on relatively short runways. It also performs well in high-altitude areas.
• The 757 can reach top speeds of 609 miles per hour. Cruising speed is normally 500 mph.
• Its maximum cruising altitude is 42,000 feet. Typical cruising altitude is 38,000 to 40,000 feet.
• The aircraft lifts up to 255,000 pounds and has bigger cargo holds so it can carry all the equipment and then some we need on our expeditions. 
• The surface area of a pair of 757 wings is 1,951 square feet, about the same as the floor space of a typical three-bedroom home.
• The jet has been used to serve cities as far apart as 4,281 miles and as close as 65 miles.
• Although Boeing stopped production of the 757 in 2004, it supports the aircraft and still manufacturers its parts. That's because it's a very popular jet and a mainstay in many commercial fleets. 
• The 757 has a cabin capacity for up to 239 passengers. On our trips, the jet is reconfigured with 52 or 80 spacious seats, which makes for a roomy interior that allows our guests the ability to stretch and move around in comfort.
